The Business Inn Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Business Inn on Maclaren Street, you immediately get that “this place knows what it’s doing” vibe. It’s not trying to be flashy or pretentious — honestly, that’s exactly what I loved about it. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Ottawa, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that they’ve figured out how to make business travelers and couples equally comfortable. The lobby has this clean, professional feel without being sterile, if that makes sense.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about the location — it’s genuinely excellent, not just marketing speak. You’re on Maclaren Street, which puts you within walking distance of Parliament Hill, the Rideau Centre, and honestly most of what you’d want to see in downtown Ottawa. I mean, couples are rating the location 9.4 out of 10, and after staying there, I totally get why. You can grab coffee at Bridgehead around the corner, walk to the ByWard Market in about ten minutes, or catch the O-Train if you need to get somewhere further out. The neighborhood feels safe and walkable, even in the evening.
The Room Experience
The room itself was exactly what I needed — clean, well-designed, and surprisingly quiet for being right downtown. But you know what really stood out? The bed. They weren’t kidding when they said this place gets high marks for comfortable beds. I actually slept better here than I do at home sometimes, which is saying something. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re smartly laid out with good lighting and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.
Morning Routine and Practical Perks
Breakfast here is continental and buffet-style — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done well. Fresh coffee, decent pastries, and the usual suspects you’d expect. What I really appreciated was the parking situation though. Having private parking available on-site in downtown Ottawa is actually a big deal — you don’t realize how much of a headache street parking can be until you don’t have to deal with it. The staff mentioned that they have tons of repeat guests, and honestly, once you experience the combination of location, comfort, and not having to worry about where to put your car, it makes total sense.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the kind of place that’s going to wow you with fancy amenities or over-the-top service, but that’s sort of the point. The Business Inn delivers exactly what it promises — a solid, comfortable stay in an excellent location with the practical stuff handled well. Whether you’re in Ottawa for work or exploring the city with someone special, you’ll appreciate that they’ve focused on getting the fundamentals right rather than trying to be something they’re not. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
To book a hotel in Ottawa during Winterlude, visitors plan ahead to balance ice sculptures with BeaverTail tastings on the canal.
