Days Inn by Wyndham Ottawa

Days Inn by Wyndham Ottawa Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Days Inn by Wyndham Ottawa on Rideau Street, you’ll notice it’s not trying to be something it isn’t — and honestly, that’s refreshing. This three-star hotel sits right in the thick of things downtown, which means you’re hearing the city hum even from the lobby. The building itself has that practical, no-nonsense vibe that screams “we’re here to give you a decent place to sleep without breaking the bank.” I mean, sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’d rather spend your money exploring Ottawa than on thread counts.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about being on Rideau Street — you’re literally in the heart of everything Ottawa has to offer. The ByWard Market is practically at your doorstep, which means you can stumble out for coffee at 7 AM or grab late-night poutine without calling a cab. Parliament Hill? It’s a pleasant ten-minute walk, maybe fifteen if you’re stopping to take photos. What really sold me on the location is that you can actually park here — and if you’ve ever tried to find parking downtown Ottawa, you know that’s worth its weight in gold.

The Room Experience

Look, the rooms at Days Inn by Wyndham Ottawa aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re clean and functional in that reliable chain hotel way. The beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well despite the street noise (though if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs). The bathrooms are small but efficient — everything works, the water pressure is decent, and there’s enough counter space for your toiletries. You know what I appreciated? The rooms actually have enough outlets near the bed, which seems like a small thing until you’re trying to charge your phone and camera at the same time.

Practical Considerations

The staff here seems to get that most guests are either tourists trying to see the sights or business travelers who just need basics done right. Check-in was quick, and they were helpful with directions — actually helpful, not just “it’s that way” helpful. The parking situation deserves another mention because it’s such a relief in this part of the city. Sure, there’s a fee, but it beats circling blocks looking for street parking or walking six blocks from a cheaper lot. The WiFi worked fine throughout my stay, which honestly puts it ahead of some fancier places I’ve been.

Why Guests Love It

Couples seem to really appreciate this place, and I can see why — there’s something nice about being able to walk everywhere together without worrying about transportation. You can stroll to dinner in the ByWard Market, catch a show, and be back in your room within minutes. It’s not romantic in a champagne-and-roses way, but it’s romantic in a “let’s explore this city together” way. The value proposition is solid too — you’re paying for location and reliability, not fancy amenities you might not use anyway. Sometimes that’s exactly the right call.

We stayed for a week. When we first arrived we were in the ground floor. The rooms had much to be desired, so we asked the staff what they could do and they jumped at the opportunity to move and assist us. We were then moved inside where the rooms were much more what we would expect. Good value and clean room.
